El Cajon businesses evacuated, 1 in the hospital after carbon monoxide leak June 17, 2018 Updated: 2:31 PM Posted: June 17, 2018 KUSI Newsroom EL CAJON (KUSI) – An exhaust fan that appeared to have been accidentally turned off led to high levels of carbon monoxide at an El Cajon shopping center Sunday, triggering evacuations of multiple businesses.Firefighters were called to a Starbucks on Fletcher Parkway near Navajo Road about 8:15 a.m. to assist with an employee who reported difficulty breathing, said Heartland Fire and Rescue spokesperson Sonny Saghera. While at the scene, the firefighters monitored the air and noticed carbon monoxide inside the coffee shop, Saghera said. Workers and customers were cleared out of the Starbucks and nearby businesses, including an adjacent bagel shop, the Golden Bagel Cafe.Firefighters were able to trace the carbon monoxide to the bagel shop, and found an exhaust fan above a boiler had apparently been turned off, allowing the gas to collect and spread, Saghera said.A hazardous materials team was able to ventilate the businesses, and people were then allowed back inside. The Starbucks employee was taken to a hospital for treatment.Carbon monoxide is not poisonous in itself, but where it accumulates it displaces oxygen, and can be lethal. Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reacted sharply to the answer given by Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister of State for Finance, regarding writing off of Non-Performing Assets by the Reserve Bank of India. The question on whether Rs 2.4 lakh crore of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) crony corporate loans have been written off by the present Union government till September 2017, was raised by Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay, expelled CPI-M Rajya Sabha MP on Tuesday. Also Read – Heavy rain hits traffic, flightsBanerjee tweeted: “I am shocked to see that at a time when the farmers in the country are crying and committing suicide for their loan burden and asking for waiver of farmer loans, the government of India has not even considered that.”On the contrary, the government of India has decided to write off non-performing assets of public sector banks to the tune of Rs 2,41,911 crore, from the financial year 2014-15 till September 2017.”This is unbelievable. We had raised the issue of non-performing assets right at the time of demonetisation. Now the cat is out of the bag and reality bites. Even in Parliament reply, the government says that the details of credit information by a PSB cannot be disclosed. Why is this confidentiality? Whom is the government trying to protect? We demand immediate disclosure of the complete list of defaulters of PSBs whose loans have been written off. Is it not a big big big scam?” the Chief Minister said.Welcoming Banerjee’s tweet, Bandyopadhyay tweeted: “There’s the Bengal tigress. Always loud and clear for the people’s rights. All democratic and secular forces and people must strengthen the hand of Didi in the fight for saving the country.”
When it comes to new trends in dining out, customers are switching over to healthy and natural food (pesticide free) more than ever. They are always on the lookout for wellness alternatives in their food. Sous Chef Prem k Pogakula, The Imperial says, “The preference this year will be more for GMO free ingredients and as I see it, things will become more intense in the coming years. With time crunch in hand and both the partners working in a nuclear family scenario, one pot meals are super easy, highly nutritious with adequate protein and starch content and are perfect for a quick meal. You can also call it as Urban cooking.” Also Read – ‘Playing Jojo was emotionally exhausting’“Food is now becoming a highly rated genre and food connoisseurs are always on the lookout for old, forgotten and classic global recipes as they possess simple and straight flavours. People prefer them over fusion cuisine (which is somehow still a matter of confusion and needs to evolve). Only experimented cuisine calls for fusion food on your palate. It can never ever replace or take over the classic cuisine,” he said. The Chef further added, “I also strongly believe that the dining scenario in the city is in for a change in the coming year. Experiments are still on but the vital aspect is that old and lost cuisines are being re-discovered. Chefs are working with emotional food along with childhood or regional memories. Your palate can be a sweet creation when you are delighted or spicy, peppery food when anger takes over you which will also see a rise. Food memories specifically offer a magical feeling.”
People are more likely to perceive familiar faces to be happier than those of strangers, even when both express the same emotions, a study suggests. Familiarity – just having ‘expertise’ with someone else’s face through repeated exposure – affects the happiness you perceive in subsequent facial expressions from that person, researchers said.”Familiarity not only influences traditional ratings of liking, attractiveness, but also impacts ‘deeper’ perceptions of the actual emotion you can extract from that person,” said Evan Carr of Columbia Business School in the US. Also Read – Add new books to your shelfResearchers including those from University of California, San Diego in the US, morphed images of male and female faces to create faces that varied in the type and degree of emotion expressed. This process resulted in a continuum of morphed faces that ranged from 50 per cent angry to neutral to 50 per cent happy. The team divided the images into two sets. A total of 50 undergraduate student participants came to the lab for a “memory task.” Each participant saw a series of images – the neutral expressions from one of the two image sets – and was tasked with tracking the colour and number of squares that appeared randomly on some images. Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsiveParticipants then viewed a series of face pairs in a perceptual task, where they had to indicate whether the happier face was above or below the line shown on screen. Each pair included a familiar and an unfamiliar face and the faces showed the same objective level of emotion.Researchers found that participants were more likely to identify the familiar face as the happier one in the pair, despite the fact that the faces showed the same emotion to the same degree. They were also more likely to identify the familiar face as happier when the faces were 50 per cent happy than when they were 25 per cent happy, researchers said. In a second experiment, the team asked 40 undergraduate participants to look at a series of faces and decide whether each face was either “happy or angry.” Researchers found that the results replicated those of the first experiment, participants were more likely to identify familiar faces as happy compared with unfamiliar ones, but only when the faces were emotionally neutral or positive. Their estimates of how happy the faces were increased as the positive features increased. The data indicated that familiarity actually shifted how participants perceived the emotional content of the faces – that is, a familiar face needed to have fewer objectively happy features for it to be classified as happy compared with an unfamiliar face. The study was published in the journal Psychological Science.

Microsoft has good news for all the game developers out there. It launched a new initiative, called Microsoft Game Stack yesterday, which includes an amalgamation of different Microsoft tools and services into a single robust ecosystem to ‘empower game developers’. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a rookie indie developer or an AAA studio, this developer-focused platform will make the game development process ten times easier for you. The main goal of Game Stack is to help developers easily find different tools and services required for game development at one spot. These tools range from Azure, PlayFab, DirectX, Visual Studio, to Xbox Live, App Center, and Havok. Cloud plays a major role in Game Stack and it makes use of Azure to fulfill this requirement. Source: Microsoft Azure is globally available in 54 regions will help scale its Project xCloud (a service that streams games to PCs, consoles, and mobile devices) to provide an uninterrupted gaming experience for players worldwide. Not to forget, companies like Rare, Ubisoft and Wizards of the Coast are already hosting multiplayer game servers and storing their player data on Azure. It is also capable of analyzing game telemetry, protecting games from DDOS attacks, and training AI. Moreover, Microsoft Game Stack is device agnostic which makes it really convenient for the gamers. Another great component of Game Stack is a backend service for operating and building new games, called PlayFab. PlayFab offers game development services, real-time analytics, and LiveOps capabilities to Game Stack. PlayFab is also device agnostic. It supports iOS, Android, PC, Web, Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and all the other major game engines such as Unity and Unreal. Microsoft has also released a preview for five new PlayFab services. Out of these five, one, called, PlayFab Matchmaking is open for public preview, while other four including PlayFab Party, PlayFab Insights, PlayFab PubSub, and PlayFab user-generated Content are in private preview. Game Stack also comes with Xbox Live, one of the most engaging and interactive gaming communities in the world. Xbox Live will be providing identity and community services in the Game Stack. Microsoft has also expanded the cross-platform capabilities of Xbox Live under Game Stack with a new SDK for iOS and Android devices. Mobile developers will be able to easily connect with some of the most highly engaged and passionate gamers on the planet using Xbox Live. Other benefits of the Xbox Live SDK includes more focus on building games and leveraging Microsoft‘s trusted identity network to offer support for log-in, privacy, online safety and child accounts.
